Lunch earlier in the day was not half bad.

It was actually a lunch among colleagues, but outside the work context as we just sat around and talked trash. Okay, not all trash, but much of it was just not directly linked to work. The idea actually came from one of the senior guys. I'm told it's some kind of custom to have one of these things every year.

The food was okay. I'm not really in the best position to comment, as I actually ate rather little. No abundance of meats or pasta for me today - it was light stuff for a change. I did have plenty of juice though, not to mention some interest in sherbet. The liquid mostly kept me full, which was just as well, because I was doing plenty of talking, along with everyone else.

It was lovely, the day as a whole.

And after that, I went to do some shopping. I might as well, since I was in the heart of downtown on a Saturday afternoon. Not a bad time to get some shopping done. Picked up a couple of CDs, not to mention something rather special. What is it? I'm not telling!

I was surprised to pick up a poster for my purchase though, but since it came free, I might as well take it. The only problem is that I have no place to put up posters, so it's going to sit in a corner in my room. Like a couple of other posters I have.

The evening out was fun.

Okay, so it didn't start quite according to plan. We wanted to go to this restaurant sort of place, see, which was opened by a friend of one of us. The only problem is that the said friend wasn't actually around, and we were instead greeted by a rather questionable scene. The mood was way off from the previous time I visited the place, and certainly way off from the way the place usually was, as we understand it. So what do we do? Go somewhere else, of course, where we'd feel a bit more comfortable for dinner.

Dinner was nice, and there's always that bit of funniness over the conversation. Especially when it came to asking what kind of girls the guys among us liked. I didn't answer. I didn't want to. I shouldn't have to. The food was nice too, of course.

Then we went to do our singing. I started weak. I expected it. The first couple of songs are supposed to be for warming up them vocals. That always takes a while. So I did the absolutely courageous thing and went to sing a few Japanese songs, only to be greeted by hiragana rather than romaji. Okay, so that's the way it is. And I realize I'm less familiar with those songs than I thought. The Japanese input was also less than satisfactory.

But it was clear the rest were having fun from the start (Weren't you?), so I shouldn't have been too surprised I hit my stride soon enough. Yes, I chickened out again and didn't go for the beer. But then firstly, I normally never drink, and secondly, I wanted to keep my throat good, coz I knew I wanted to sing some really challenging songs. Otherwise, I really, really would not have minded breaking my vow on alcohol. In front of you all, and only you all, I'd do that.

I'm capable of little surprises like that.

And then the tough songs came. Yes, I know I stunned you when I went for several really odd choices early on, but that's nothing compared to what I came up with late on. I really meant to do that. I just hope I didn't screw up, and that you liked it.

Not to mention hoping that we'll be able to do it again soon. Not too soon, but let's go do it again!
