So I went to watch this Japanese movie called The Sinking of Japan just last night, and made the absolutely horrible mistake of forgetting to blog about it immediately afterwards. Now that I actually want to look back on the movie, I actually cannot remember enough details to constitute a proper review of any kind.

Stupid stupid stupid.

But I remember making a grab for the phone the instant I got out of the cinema, wanting to call and just tell you how great a movie it was.

I remember how I was moved by the camera work and the special effects, done so well I could actually forget the fact that this was NOT a Hollywood movie.

I remember how I was struck by the very decent acting skills of Shibasaki Kou, and how Kusanagi Tsuyoshi was striking with his face that expressed the difficult life his character must have led, struggling to come to terms with the painful tasks he would have to undertake, and with how he could not allow time for a bit of love.

I remember the impressive performance put up by Fukuda Mayuko, after seeing her do so brilliantly in Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji III. The moment I realized she was in the cast, I went "Woohoo!". The rest of her acting justified the ticket price alone. And she's only 12!

I remember Oikawa Mitsuhiro - who will always register in my memory as Keijiro from Toshiie To Matsu and lawyer Kunihei from Shiroi Kyoto - and his role in this movie, knowing how set-up his character was going to be, but feeling sad for him anyway when the moment came.

I remember all this.

And I remember how I wanted to share all of it with you right there, right then. But I could not, because you were going away the next day.

Of course, you'll be back, and then I could tell you how great this movie was. I could even try to persuade you to watch it.

And then I'll remember how you initially suggested that I watch Dead Or Alive instead, and how we laughed our heads off at the whole idea. Yes, I wanted entertainment that night, but I wasn't looking for THAT kind of entertainment! I think you knew that too!

I remember.

And now I wait. As always.

All said and done, today was a good day.

Of course, nowadays the days are often good, even if at times a touch hectic. Still, it gives me that warm and lively feeling inside, knowing that I'm really coming to life this past year or so.

It's a rather big turnaround from what it was like before, although there are still parts of the old me I like very much, and I will be working hard to retain those parts where I can. But this is a newer me, a rather livelier and brighter me, growing every single day in confidence and belief that maybe, just maybe, things will work out very much better this time.

Where the fingers used to be filled with a fire that was waiting to rage and destroy, now they are glowing with a stream of gentle warmth. Yes, I'm still on the incisive side at times, but I'm less likely to whip up a full-scale tornado these days, mostly because I no longer feel the urge to.

I sort of like me being like that.
