I have just changed my mobile phone after the old one - a Nokia 3210 - finally moved too close to functional expiry after more than five good years of service.

I have not changed my phone number, however. But I will need to get some things done before I go into using the new phone.

So if anyone who tries to call me can't reach me in the next twenty-four hours, this is why.

Meanwhile, I will give my recap on the first episode of The Amazing Race Family Edition over the weekend. Too many things to sort out to get around to writing it...

Would you believe it, the eighth season of The Amazing Race is about to be upon us!

I don't know what to make of this family edition, hence the lack of a preview and examination of the teams. But let's just sit back this time and watch the first couple of hours before we come to any assessment.

Meanwhile, the UEFA Champions League Day 2 action is about to start. See you readers in a bit!

I think I've been relatively successful in the way I am currently playing on BlogShares. I've crossed the billion-dollar mark, so I can't be doing too many things wrong. Unfortunately the value cannot translate to real money.

In fact, I'm currently busy thumbing through my portfolio and purging dead blogs. Hey, if you've got about 800 different blogs in your portfolio like I do, you have to have a couple of dead blogs somewhere! So I'm busy purging those, and reporting them to the BlogShares admin.

Of course, I am bearing in mind that I play this game mostly as a hobby, even though I try very hard to religiously use up my 21 transactions per trading day (I'm on a free account, rather than paying for the game, which gives me all these benefits I don't really need.). And, like I said at the outset, this is just a game.

Having said that, in the process of doing this cleanup, I am also constantly reminding myself about the importance of cleaning up after. You see, lots of people just abandon their blogs with a thud. A few others have the courtesy to put up a sign to say they have moved, blah blah blah, but never take down the original notice of migration six months or a year later, when the value of the sign would have gone down to just about nil.

Plus, I don't understand this silliness of starting new blogs just because you wanted a domain name change. Unfortunately, that's the great trade-off of electronic space. Because it's virtually free, people don't feel the need to treat blog domain names as anything other than throwaway plastic spoons. The problem is, just because you can throw them away doesn't mean they will disappear from this planet. Someone actually has to deal with the rubbish.

Which is why I'm happy to hang on to this blog and not go for frivolous domain name changes. Nothing beats stability.

Today wasn't a bad day as far as the Sunday football was concerned. Better than last week, when I was conceding goal after goal. Today felt much better as I stayed on the winning side all day, and that always feels good.

The week's getting better too, because I've been loading up on writing work. Always feels good, really. So, I'm a bit sorry I've not been blogging so much, but I think you have to look at the flip side and see that it's because life has been good work-wise.

Of course, I'll still blog when I have something to write about. Better than some of the blogs out there that stop updating for months upon months - sometimes I think it's a case of the blog owners not being responsible enough to formally terminate their blog. Waste of electronic resources, that.

But oh well, what can I do about that?
