Some belated congratulations to Liverpool for winning the Champions' League final.

I say that, though, with a small hint of dissatisfaction at the way the final went. Don't get me wrong, 3-3 and penalties is some score, and beats 0-0 and penalties like the way AC Milan beat Juventus a couple of years back. A game with six goals is always fun to watch for the goals.

For some reason, though, I've mixed feelings about the match. Liverpool didn't really get that much right in terms of their play, apart from knocking in those three goals. Maybe it's because Maldini (!) grabbed a first-minute goal, but there was a hint of impatience to Liverpool's play. Gerrard was rushing his attempts to pass spectacular through balls, rather than going for the safe, secure plays. Traore had a nightmare match for the most part, and Garcia was less impressive than he was in the previous matches. Baros had a bad temper, but he did better than Cisse - who was absolutely unproductive as a substitute.

Milan weren't that much better actually, although their approach to the game was probably somewhat more comfortable. But Pirlo didn't have a good day, and the same goes for Seedorf too. Kaka was suffering from fatigue as the match wore on, and the same could be said for most of the defence actually. The most unfortunate man was probably Shevchenko, who actually contributed quite well but couldn't get a goal himself.

Still, this one goes down as one of the greatest matches in Champions' League history, and arguably the best final - barely pipping the great night in Barcelona. But it's still a match with six great moments and lots of mistakes in-between.

My point? There's always room to do better.

Congratulations again to Liverpool, and give us a better run next season. We could use it. As for Milan, don't sack Ancelotti - the idea is fundamentally ridiculous.
