I might find myself getting back into involvement in "the profession" again, although this time my role, if I am given one, is likely to be very peripheral.

I'm treating this more as a hobby. After all, I do have a real, paying job - which I love even more at the moment. But I don't mind offering a little bit of my time and skills on the side, because there is a quaint little buzz I get from doing something that not many people seem to regard as important - although it is.

Then again, I might not get involved at all. So don't get too curious about it.

So now I'm done reading Bill Maher's New Rules, which is a glorious laugh. My attentions have now been shifted to a small travel booklet entitled Wrong About Japan, which discusses lots of misconceptions foreigners seem to have about the country. Among other things, much is made of the traditional craft of forging a samurai's sword, yet the swordsmith manages to kill most of that during the US-based Australian author's visit to his house (together with his anime-crazy kid). They don't even forge the swords at night anymore.

It's a good little book, because it nicely reminds us not to take for the straightforward truth what people write in those other, more normal travel books. One place in the world is really quite similar to another place in more ways than the two are different. This is true, even if the place in question is Japan.

My hard-disk is crawling past 85% of capacity, which severely reduces the amount of virtual memory available, as well as potentially impairing disk maintenance (so says Microsoft).

I need to raise money quickly to buy a new portable external hard-disk to migrate away some of my data. That, of course, is after I settle my bills and keep up my savings plan.
